Who is Daemon Targaryen?

Daemon Targaryen is Prince and brother of Viserys I Targaryen, who is king at the beginning of House of the Dragon. While he has married twice before, House of the Dragon will only show his marriage to the princess (and niece) Rhaenyra Targaryen.
Daemon was once commander of the King's landing guard and was very admired. In fact, he is the reason why the guards are still known as the golden layers years later during an ice and fire song after giving all other vigilants that exact article. Daemon being commander saw a fall in crime, but just because he was known for the brutal punishments given to thieves. It seems that the series could house another Brutal Targaryen.
Daemon does not have the best relationship with Brother Viserys, especially after he appointed Rhaenyra heiress of the throne and princess of Dragonst1. Daemon wields the valyrio Dark Sister steel sword and set up the Caraxes dragon. Seeing that Caraxes is still alive at the beginning of the dragons dance, he is likely to appear in the series.

Who is Rhaenyra Targaryen?

Rhaenyra Targaryen is the princess of Rocadragón, legitimate heiress (by testament) of the throne held by her father, Viserys I Targaryen, and she was appointed the heiress of her at the age of eight. Approximately at this age, she became Syrax's dragonera, and the dragon is still alive at the beginning of the dragons dance.

Viserys I Targaryen is king at the beginning of House of the Dragon and is the fifth Targaryen in having the iron thr1. The Targaryen house was at its most powerful point during the reign of Viserys I, with the largest number of members of the Targaryen family and the largest amount of dragons that have ever existed.
There is not much notable within the reign of Viserys I, since he was a peaceful and benevolent king. It is ironic that his death will trigger the tragic Civil War of Dance of Dragons.
The show takes place much at the end of the king's life and, therefore, at the beginning of the civil war that arises from his election to name Rhaenyra as heiress instead of Daemon. Rhaenyra was appointed heiress to the throne due to her lack of success in the production of a male heir with her first wife and her cold relationship with her brother.
She once was a rider of the legendary Balerion dragon, but she did not accept another dragon after he died of old age many years before the story of House of the Dragon began.
Viserys I will be interpreted by Paddy Conscine in House of the Dragon.
Other traditions of the Dragon House
A son of Daemon and Rhaenyra, Aegon III, was mentioned in Game of Thrones. In the book, Daenerys remembers that her brother told him that the dragons became extinct during the reign of Aegon III.
The dragon's house will be approximately between 129 AC and 131 BC. In perspective, Game of Thrones began in the year 298 AC.
In the second season of Game of Thrones, one of the ships owned by Daenerys Targaryen is called Balerion, in honor of the dragon mounted by Viserys.
