The action against Sony for sexism and discrimination in the workplace will be extended to statements of eight women who raise the same allegations. Sony had first rejected the action of a former employee because the company's view was missing details. They will now be delivered by eight other women who complain of sexism in various Sony Playstation offices in the USA. One of the women is currently working with Sony.
Sexism: Sony complaint is expanded around 8 women's statements
That's why it's about: Already in November we reported that a former Sony employee proposes discrimination against the Group. She has filed a lawsuit because she was obviously terminated after she had formally complained of women's unequal treatment. Female employees would generally discriminated.
Sony's reaction was expected: The allegations are lush and were trimmed. According to Sony, the lawsuit should be dropped out because there would be too little evidence for the designs of the former IT expert. However, that should change with the statements of the eight other women.
Support of more women: The lawsuit is now receiving support through statements of eight other women who have worked for Sony or doing it. All explain, they were completely ignored or disadvantaged as well as discriminated, have been passed through promotions and much more.
The foundatory goal is: Sony PlayStation treats women in a sexist manner, in the US offices prevail a toxic working atmosphere and corporate culture (via: Axios). In addition, people in the HR department had refused to take the problem seriously, which is why many women were gradually gone.
Sony apparently does no exception
Sexism and discrimination are socially assessed problems and do not stop in front of gaming companies. On the contrary: Most of them seem to have difficulty with harassment in the workplace, sexism, abuse, or racism and toxic corporate culture.
Activision Blizzard, Ubisoft, Bungie or Quantic Dream: The list is long and sad, now also joins Sony. Remains only to hope that the increasing attention for the problem helps to combat the underlying causes and to create a better, safer working atmosphere for all.
